Election 2008: Brozosky is back

Original post made on Oct 8, 2008

After losing to Jennifer Hosterman by only 189 votes in the mayor's race two years ago, businessman Steve Brozosky will try again on Nov. 4, responding, as he said, to hundreds of phone calls and emails asking that he run again to bring a change to local government.

"Actually, I wasn't planning to seek public office again until people kept urging me to run for the mayor's office," Brozosky said in a wide-ranging interview about his candidacy.

Does Brozosky just make this stuff up??? I watch the Council Meetings and many of the things sited in the above article are out of contest, misleading or just false!

Doesn't the editor fact check anything??????

With no disrespect to Steve, I have heard from those that work closely with him that he is a walking contractiction. It sounds like he really believes what he says about himself, but ask those who work with him in private what they think and you'll get a more realistic perspective.

I also agree with your fact checking comment anonymous, the weekly might as well take some of the anonymous posts directly from the forus here and post them. I have heard Brozosky use the word "I" alot in taking credit for the work of many. Also at the candidates breakfast at Faz, Cindy McGovern literally read a list about 25 items long of "accomplishments during HER leadership" on city council. It was almost comical to see her personally saying "I" did all of this.

I have never known Steve to be anything but honest and straight forward and I have seen him accomplish plenty to take credit for.

It is reasonable to list the City's accomplishments during their time in office, but focus on what they where personally responsible for.

Never said he was dishonest, but he definately contradicts himself constantly. Like I said, I'm sure he "believes" that he works well with staff, others etc...... If you ask staff directly then you get a different answer.

BTW, Steve hasn't been on the council for a while now, he's on the school board. Again, he has said "he personally" solved the budget shortfall. I know other board members personally, and public consultants whom all worked very hard to balance the budget. Steve was a small cog in a very big wheel in getting the project done.

This is equivalent to a single player in a team sport (like Terrel Owens), believing he is the reason his team won. In the real world we call it narcissism.

Having watched all of the discussions on the district budget crisis, everyone was crying the sky is falling, I can say Steve was the only person that contributed reason to the discussions. At the end, when the State not only did not cut but increased the districts budget, other board members actually admitted Steve was the only one that was right. Anyone who says otherwise is rewriting history and there are tapes to prove it.
Steve uses good business sense

"There's this feeling now that if you go to a council meeting that you're not really being listened to," Brozosky said.

HAAA!!!!!! Gee, like the time Steve didn't listen to the public because he wanted a huge waterslide. What classic hypocrite!

Steve had been listening for many years as the youth in the community asked for resources. Improving the waterslides had been specifically requested at a youth forum that I personally observed. The BMX park was another resource that the youth community had been asking for.
All of the council that supported the approval to Eastbay Regional (lead by Mayor Pico), understood the benefits out weighed the potential for minimal impact.
Steve said at the time, he was concerned that if it was not approved the waterslides would deteriorate further becoming unpleasant and unusable.
The council majority was right, they made the right decision. Pleasanton maintained a good relationship with Eastbay Regional, the BMX park is a great asset to the community (constantly used by families, costs one dollar a year). Unfortunately because of medical issues with the owner the slides will not be completed and they are falling into disrepair anyway, but there will be no traffic impact.
Why are you still complaining, you still got what you wanted?

Brozosky for Mayor, he gets things done for our youth.

I refuse to cast my vote for someone for whom democracy is a one-way street. Democracy is not a term reserved solely for the actions of ourselves and others that agree with us. Mr. Brozosky has publicly shown his colors on this matter in a past letter sent to PW. How can we expect that we will be "listened to" when these are the words by this mayoral candidate? Web Link

"If you do not wish to sign, that is fine, but please respect the rights of others to practice democracy and collect signatures. "

Yes, Mr. Brozosky. Respect the rights of others to practice democracy and campaign against the collection of signatures by not suggesting there is disrespect occurring.

Brozosky got called on his "undemocratic" letter to the editor by others later: Web Link

"What could be more democratic than participating in a public process and working to protect the resulting project? The initiative promoters forget democracy works both ways--they are free to propose an initiative, others are free to oppose."

"Simply, this is an unfair accusation. It implies that if anyone publicly opposes the signing of an initiative, they are therefore disrespecting the rights of others and are opposed to democracy."
