I was in court today and was captivated by the audience. It seems that you have a bunch of Desperate Housewives and their over-privileged daughters in there just looking for attention. These young ladies were more than likely not victims but wanted the gossip needed to boost their reputation at the Clubhouse. If you believe he is guilty then dress appropriately for court and listen to the facts of the case. You don't need permission from your best friend, the Paris Hilton lookalike to make the decision for you. This is not gossip, this is about the lives' of many people that have or will be destroyed or impacted by this case. If you truly believe this man is innocent then read the docket, the victim statements and conclude your own truth. These documents might make you reconsider your opinion about Mr.Germain. If these victims are lying, then Castlewood has much bigger problems than missing tennis practice.

I doubt that the people that were in court today are "Desperate Housewives". You seem to have very little appreciation for the American system of justice. I don't recall reading anything about "over-privileged" citizens not being welcomed in a court of law. Do you have a full deck or what"

Unless you have a crystal ball that works, why not just shut up about what young women wear. It's none of your business so keep you crap to yourself. If the Judge determines that some people are dressed inappropriately, those people will be dismissed. Nobody needs you advice on this matter control freak! The Judge will make the determination.

Ahh, I was waiting to get somebody worked up and it only took 30 mins. My post was not my opinion at all. As a matter of fact I'm a huge advocate for victims and their rights. My point was to post the initial reaction from a lot of people about this case. In addition, it is my understanding that Mr.Germain used the affluence and reputation of Castlewood to silence his victims. He manipulated them to think they deserved to be abused because of their more fortunate circumstances. Victims don't have to be poor and live in low socioeconomic communities and perps aren't creepy loners. I wanted to put a spin on this case that I know people were thinking but did not say. We all want to think it will never happen to us and this case is more proof that we need to take care of ALL of our children not just some of them...God Bless each and every person effected by the actions of Mr.Germain

I too was in court and am probably what "Integrity" might have referred to as the "Desperate Housewives" and their "Paris"-like children.

How very judgemental to make sweeping generalizations about people you've most likely never met. Most of those people, young and old have been friends of Henry and the tennis community for years. Most are upstanding citizens, good people and their membership of a club does not make them "gossip hounds" or attention-seekers as you suggest. Most were there to show support for the ENTIRE situation and attempt to gather information about this tragedy that has and will continue to rip apart our community.

I'm gathering that there are lots of males in PTown that truly hate women with mature adult needs. The language used to describe young women is not so much a joke as consistent with how many Plutonian males perceive attractive young women pieces of meat with eyes that blink.

It's this process of dehumanization of women that can lead to their victimization. Tragic...

Finally! People that are ready to defend themselves. I have seen little of this since since this story broke. I feel honored to be the one to get you mad. I hope you take all of that anger and use it to fight against child abuse in a productive manner. It shouldn't take an act like this to get people more involved in social issues and crime. Castlewood may not have the heavy crime rate like other cities in Alameda County but that does not mean they deserve to have their children sexually violated.

Anyone can be a victim. the problem is that our society has to find a way to justify why it won't happen to them. If we spent as much time protecting our children as we do criticizing victims I wonder how much safer we ALL would be...

I hope that when all of this is over, more people do unite together to help fight abuse against children. From Oakland to Castlewood, we are all able to make a difference.

BTW...Sorry to disappoint you. I really do hate stereotypes and how we victimize our victims in order to justify our own insecurities. Trust me, anger gets people more involved. Look at John Walsh and Ed Smart. Both of these men lived in "safe" neighborhoods with their families, yet they both had children sexually and physically victimized in a horrific manner. I'm sure they never thought it could happen to them.

Today, both of these men have dedicated their lives to protecting children. Do you think they would have done this if their children were never violated? Sad as it is, probably not....

Fact is that I am a mature young woman and I am criticized all the time for being book smart and street stupid. I should just be quiet and not say anything because I can get away with being "pretty". BUT I'm also a victim of sexual abuse and sexual harassment. I know how these girls feel because I have been there. I have been through being blamed and verbally attacked because I should have said something earlier or I "deserved it". I endured abuse on a regular basis but I never filed charges because I listened to everyone else that said it wouldn't matter because my perp was a very prominent member in the community. I have learned to use my anger to fight against abuse. If nothing else, thanks for your encouragement....

i was one of those "over privileged daughters". i wasn't abused by henry though i've known him since i was about 8. i also wasn't there to gossip. i went there because i've been hearing all sorts of things about the case so i wanted to hear for myself what was going on and i wanted facts. i'm sorry if my attire offended you. i just graduated from high school and your initial comment sounded more like high school gossip than anyting else.

i'm just curious, can anyone who was present today describe how Henry appeared to be? how long did the proceedings take? was anything new presented other than a postponement? for all you Henry supporters, do you think your presence was comforting to him or was it maybe embarrassing?? how likely is it that a plea will be entered on friday? for all we know another postponement maybe in the cards.

i went to the club meeting and feel way more informed about these type of crimes. the sheriff's office put on a great presentation. we need to put this behind us and move on. i hope people will encourage victims to come forward. they will for sure have community support. we are lucky to have such professionals serving our community.

I happen to be friends with one of the victims and it makes me sick to hear all the hurtful things that are being said about her and the other victims. It's a shame that this had to happen, however, it wasn't the girls' choice to be put in this predicament. Mr. Germain made a decision to do something very wrong and whether he did it yesterday or 10 years ago doesn't make it right. Every action has a consequence, he dug his hole and now he should lie in it. We should all feel better knowing that yet another scumbag is behind bars and I hope he stays there! He deserves nothing less. He has turned my friend's life upside and inside out and I can't imagine what it would be like growing up with such a dark secret that tears you apart. How dare anyone attack these girls and their integrity. They have done NOTHING wrong. They were little girls who were taken advantage of, their trust betrayed, and they finally have the strength and courage to come forward.

** Let me preference this by saying that I do believe that Germain is guilty and I believe that with the evidence released as of now the burden is on him to prove his innocence **I attended the hearing on Wednesday. Anyway,in regards to the audience it was a bit different from what you “normally’ might find in a criminal court but just because you might have money it does not mean you are protected from sick men like Germain. If anything it makes you more susceptible because it's easier to put your guard down when crime is not a constant in your environment. In my opinion, the support demonstrated for the victims appeared to be sincere from the people in the room. I can say that most of the courtroom was there for this case and they seemed concerned and genuinely interested in the outcome of what was going to happen to Germain. There was one woman near me that consulted with Germain's lawyer but other than her, Germain did not seem to have any other support in the room. As for Germain, his physical appearance was a bit disheveled but his demeanor seemed calm, cool and collected. Maybe a little bit of stress because he never once looked our way but my opinion was that he also seemed to have an air of arrogance. He only spoke to confirm that his vehicle could be released to the woman next to me. I will not print her name because even if she is there for Germain, she doesn’t deserve to be attacked. This case is about him. Then it was all over and he was gone and so was most of the courtroom…Anyway, I could be wrong but this is just my humble opinion of the question asked about his appearance in court :)

BACA-Henry didn't have an air of arrogance-ignorant description-typical of all the people who think this case is like all of the others. And why wouldn't the support for the victims be sincere? I really wish people would refrain from stating how sick Henry he is if you have never met him-you know nothing about him or any sickness. If found guilty, he will have to deal with his sickness and the justice system will see to that.

Your support group is great, but you being in the courtroom is for your benefit and no one elses! Outside the courtroom is where your support is welcomed.

Find a brain and do what is best for everyone!

As a Castlewood homeowner and member. I am disgusted at this entire situation. Wait until the lawsuits start coming down. Then we will see JUSTICE.

Any news on how the court appearance went today?

I knew one the the girls as well, I was very close to her during that time and I don't believe any of it. She has always had problems and has lied. People don't change. I feel sorry for Mr. Germain and his family, when all these girls probably wanted was to get money.

If you attended the meeting last night put on by Castlewood you would know that all these young women asked for was for Henry to be let go by the club. They are to be believed as no women would go through the potential days in court etc for any amount of money. The have not filed any lawsuits against Henry. What about the other people who have now come forward? They looking for money too?

Hey Kweb- ever heard of the term "In my opinion" or that I had already stated I felt that Germain was guilty? I’m not giving him the benefit of the doubt because I have done my homework. First, read the public record about this case. Read the statements that Germain said and the victim statements, it’s all public record. I don't need to know about Germain to know his sickness, it’s all on record. Second, Child molesters reoffend. I would NEVER depend on our system to rehabilitate sex offenders. Studies have found that reconviction rates for child molesters are around 20% (Quinsey, Rice, and Harris, 1995). In addition, many victims of sexual assault are reluctant and do not report their victimization to the police (Germain’s case in point). For these reasons, relying on rearrest and reconviction data underestimates actual reoffense numbers. More than likely the actual number is much higher than reported. Lastly, I’m in court to help children, parents and the public. I help fight against child abuse, do my research, offer resources where victims lack support, volunteer my time and I strive to protect victims' from people like you.

Until you can contend with me with the same support for Germain I would suggest that you do not comment on my opinion.

First off, I am offended of how integrity is acting. How dare you call the woman and their daughters who have gone to the court hearings as desperate housewives and paris hiltons. You disgust me. I was there and for you to say something so childish is ridiculous.


Henry has bail set at about $1.1 million dollars. He has another hearing next friday, he still has no plea and probably will do so next friday and try to get a lower bail amount.

I am just curious, what does everyone think should happen to him?
