Cops suck in P Town

Original post made by MoMo, Another Pleasanton neighborhood, on Nov 26, 2007

The cops are so busy trying to score tickets they don't even fight crime. I saw 3 kids riding skateboards in the middle of Stoneridge Drive and instead of the Cop stopping them because they were being dangerous and totally illegal, he was giving someone a ticket.

What loser cops they are.

Unless I'm missing something, it sounds as if the police officer was already in the process of giving someone else a ticket for doing something illegal, as in a traffic violation. Those are illegal as well. Perhaps he/she also called it in while the current ticket was being issued?

come on, what's that matter here. they crossed a street. oh no....jaywalking is illegal but it is still a drivers duty to keep all eyes on the road. off the cell phone, and out of the fast food bag. you can't ticket a deer if you hit it...i'd say a ticket is better than nothing, but they still don't normaly do too much. but good job on the car theft arrest. by the way i still jaywalk, as a 6 ft adult. sorry.

Why didnt you do something about the kids skateboarding? Im sure you are able to do something. It always helps when we all pull together and dont just rely on other people. STEP UP if you have a problem. Cops rule. I would rather see them giving tickets anyday over a drug bust.

I can just imagine if they had been giving the skateboarders a ticket there would be comments about what losers the cops are for picking on perfectly wonderful kids.

They are in a no win situation. We've always found them to be the best, trying to apply the law while remembering that we are a small town and to show kind respect. Funny thing is...I wonder how much respect they are shown by us.

Go P-Town cops!

MoMo get real, the cop was fighting crime when he had someone pulled over. sounds like you need to go back to school and get an edumacation.

Wow - another example of the fine service the Pleasanton Weekly is providing for the community - a forum for anonymous writers to refer to police officers as losers - you should be so proud.

It always amazes me that someone has to attack the person that first starts a forum. People have opinions and they aren't going to agree with others. Let people vent. And the police here aren't perfect- I've seen many of them sitting in parking lots, parked next to each other chatting. What a wonderful job- get paid for parking your car and talking. As for what happened above, who knows what truely happened. Let MoMo express his/her feelings.

I have never seen a cop pull someone over and then kids dart across the street. But I have seen many kids dart across the street on extremly busy roads, which is dangerous.

Please stop hating on people who skate board. Skating is a very healthy activity to do, similar to riding a bicycle. You have to exert a lot of energy and it is very fun. Sadly, it can be quite dangerous due to the proliferation of cars. But, cars do not and should not rule the earth. Therefore, we shall continue to ride our skateboards and encourage others to do the same, just like I will continue riding my bicycle. Plus, getting from point A to point B by skating is completely nontoxic to our environment. Lastly, unlike typical drivers, we freequently help people in distress while out skate boarding. Sometimes we thwart crimes. We are the first line of defense and in some cases the first responders. So we will continue to push, kick and glide to preserve freedom.

Go easy, and if you can't go easy, go as easy as you can.

Yeah the cops really do suck. I see them all the time just watching the kids at Jack in the Box doing nothing waiting for something to happen tht won't, while people are speeding through the parking lot and running running stops signs.

Do you have any idea what cops are doing when they are parked or "chatting", its called their job. They need to communicate with each other and because their cars are mobile offices, they spend hours in them typing reports in central locations just in case they have to bail your butt out of some stupid situation. And im sorry you cant pay me enough money to deal with the stupid people in society and get shot at. KEEP UP THEY GREAT WORK PLEASANTON POLICE YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!

One morning I was out for a jog and saw a police officer sitting inside his vehicle. I had seen this police officer several times in the same spot for about a week. I decided to go over and ask him everything was okay and if he was watching someone. He explained to me that officers are not allowed to write police reports at the police station. If they did this, all of our police officers would be sitting at the station and it would leave no one on the street. Therefor, when they need to write a report, officers will find a central location in the city to do their work. This will allow them to finish their work (Their job) and be local if an emergency call comes out. So just for all of those people who beleive our officers are just sitting around "Chatting" your research first. I too use to think the same until I asked.

Ditto James, and thanks! They never get due credit and local idiots assume they are all about nothing. No win situation for them and I think they are awesome!

You said it all!

To MoMo: skateboarding is not a crime... haha.

My perspective on cops? They get paid too much, don't do enough, and a great majority of them are major (Comment partially removed by Pleasanton Weekly Online staff) I'm a paramedic in the area and we get paid far less than a cop but i feel as if we serve a greater purpose. We work very closely with law enforcement but sometimes we have to ask the cops to leave because they are putting too much pressure on the patient. I was attending to a trauma patient that was involved in a fight. I show up on scene and two police are interrogating the hell out of this guy while his head was gushing blood; I was forced to tell law enforcement that the patient was no longer under their care and that they had to leave. Sometimes they enjoy the fact that they have so much power, many choose to abuse it.

Wow perspective...interesting that you are quick to cop bash yet I have seen EMS/paramedics in action and you have nothing to be proud of. I personally witnessed a scene from my office when a man had a heart attack outside while he was landscaping. The police and fire dept. RAN OVER TO HIM and immediately began CPR after assessing him. They continued CPR until AMR arrived. AMR WALKED as slow as can be over to the patient...talked to the fire/police.....WALKED back to get a gurney because they obviously had forgotten to bring it with them.....WALKED back to the patient with the gurney, put him on it and WALKED the patient on the gurney to the ambulance all while performing continued CPR on him because he was still alive. The patient DIED AT THE HOSPITAL.

So perspective, instead of always talking about the cops in a negative manner, why don't you and your EMS people learn how to do your OWN JOB better instead of criticizing officers that are.

Momo, how is a police officer supposed to deal with giving a motorist a ticket and also stop three kids at the same time. From having friends/family in law enforcement I can tell you in would be extremely poor officer safety to stop three kids for one violation while dealing with the motorist. Then Momo, the motorist would complain to the officer that you were wasting their time while they had to wait for another three citations to be issued for the skateboarders. Common sense really. Obviously with your post entitled with the cops that "suck" in Pleasanton, you are a non educated person who really would not understand this concept. The cops can't stop 10 people all at the same time, but I guess these are justed wasted words on someone as truly ignorant as yourself.
