Santa Rita Cross Walk

Original post made by Ron, Deer Oaks/Twelve Oaks, on Sep 10, 2007

The long cross walk across Santa Rita (in front of Hollywood Video) now has some impressive warning features - runway type strobe lights imbedded into the pavement and flashing lights on poles. These activate when a pedestrian pushes a button at either end of the cross walk.

These are very effective and I think will help decrease the ped vs auto accidents that this particular cross walk has experienced so far. But drivers - do not become complacent to the use of the warning lights indicating a pedestrian!! Drivers must always approach un-controlled intersections (no stoplight or no stop sign) looking for pedestrians on the curb or already on the street, whether or not there are warning lights!
