It is time to separate the contenders from the pretenders. Check out the big games this week.
Softball
Livermore at Foothill, 4 p.m.: The Falcons look to keep pace with front-running Granada. Livermore dropped a tough one to Granada but rallied with a win over San Ramon. The first of a loaded week for Foothill.
Granada at Dublin, 4 p.m.: The Matadors are the team to beat right now, but Dublin has yet to lose. This is the chance for a statement game for the Gaels.
Baseball
Dougherty Valley at San Ramon Valley, 4 p.m.: Dougherty entered EBAL without a loss, but dropped a tough one to Granada. Now the Wildcats have a chance to get right back into the mix of things early.
Softball
Foothill at Granada, 4 p.m.: Game two for the Falcons when it comes to the Livermore gauntlet. Win both games and you have a huge leg up. Drop both and you are behind the eight-ball.
San Ramon Valley at California, 4 p.m.: Two solid EBAL teams that want to keep pace with the leaders. The winner solidifies a spot in the top for EBAL teams.
Tennis
Amador Valley at Foothill, 4 p.m.: The battle of Pleasanton features two teams that have been dropping on the rest of the teams in the league.
Baseball
San Ramon Valley at California, 4 p.m.: Two of the very good teams go head-to-head for the first time. Expect two big-time pitchers taking the mound today. A lot of players in this game will be taking their games to college next year.
Foothill at Granada, 4 p.m.: Two more top EBAL teams getting together early in the season. With so much talent and depth in the EBAL, every game feels like a must-win.
Baseball
De La Salle at Foothill, 11 a.m.: The second of a brutally tough
back-to-back for the Falcons. Two wins in a row would leave the Falcons as the team to beat in the EBAL.
