Ann (Annie) Montez

Resident of Pleasanton since 1964

Annie passed away in peace and comfort at age 90 of natural causes in her own bed at home under the care of her eldest Son and full-time Caregiver, Matthew Jesse Montez Watts with the wonderful care of A Plus Hospice of Pleasanton. Annie’s former daughter-in-law, Beverlee Tribuiani and her Daughter Jessica remained in touch over the years adding joy to her life. She is also survived by her other children: Cat Adrian, Mike Montez and Marty Montez, and her Grandchildren; Jessica, Andrew, Desiree, Shelsea, Trevor, Sophie, and her great-grandson Jaimz. She was the last surviving member of her family, including a sister and two brothers, and she wished for no services or fuss of any kind. Special thanks to her longtime friend and former neighbor Evelyn Wilson and her neighbors Todd and Laura Ryan and Jan Gardner for being such awesome people in her life even if she did not see them much especially in her later years. Having good neighbors added to what she loved about living in Pleasanton. She is also survived by her loving and devoted dog Lucy who added comfort and enjoyment to her life.

Herbie and Annie Montez moved to Pleasanton from San Lorenzo in 1964 after choosing a lot in Amador Estates when it was still dirt and grass. Matt remembers coming to Pleasanton as a young boy to watch The Alameda County Fair Parade and play at The Fair growing up. Herb passed away in 1996. Annie worked for The Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce for some time many years ago but was mostly a stay at home Mom also doing some seamstress work making things like a wedding gown and an Amador High mascot outfit. The clothes in the photo are vintage beaded 1920s fashion she bought and wore especially for a stage show at The Pleasanton Senior Center. Annie loved to laugh at The Golden Girls on TV and she was quite a trooper weathering the gradual changes of age later becoming a much more rapid decline during her final 10 weeks of home Hospice care. She was a dreamer enjoying telling Matt about her dreams in the morning some of which she laughed out loud about.

Thank you to all who knew Annie making her life in Pleasanton safe, peaceful and pleasant.
