The Community of Character Collaborative invites high school seniors in Pleasanton to apply for the annual Juanita Haugen Memorial Scholarship.

Scholarships of $1,000 will be presented to a student in each of Pleasanton’s three high schools who have been engaged in civic activities and have modeled Community of Character traits throughout their high school years.

Applications are being accepted now for Foothill and Amador Valley, with a deadline to apply of Nov. 13 and selection taking place mid-November. Village scholarship applications will be due at a later date.

Juanita Haugen was a longtime school board member for the Pleasanton Unified School District, and she inspired the Pleasanton Community of Character initiative. The annual scholarships recognize students who have demonstrated the traits of compassion, honesty, respect, responsibility, integrity and self-discipline.

Applications and guidelines are available at www.CommunityofCharacter.org.
