Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Tri-Valley high school students are invited to audition for the East Bay Jazz High School All-Star Band’s 2016-17 season from 6 to 9:15 p.m Thursday in Pleasanton.

Tryouts will take place in the Amador Valley High School music room, 1155 Santa Rita Road.

After a successful first year, East Bay Jazz is recruiting more talented local high school student musicians to join the fold. The band consists of 20-25 high school musicians in two groups: a big band and a combo/trio.

Rehearsals are held once a week at Amador Valley High in conjunction with fellow jazz musicians.

East Bay Jazz members perform throughout the Bay Area, as several gigs are booked and planned for the upcoming season.

Last year, students played at the Bankhead Theater and the San Jose Jazz Festival among other performances.

The band is the creation of local trombonist Spencer Sussman and is sponsored by the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center’s Education Committee.
