Local nonprofit Tri-Valley Haven is inviting area students to raise awareness about domestic violence by taking part in its annual art contest.
The theme of Tri-Valley Haven’s contest this year is “freedom from fear.” The Livermore-based agency provides shelter and support services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, hunger and homelessness while also striving to educate youth on violence prevention.
“We ask students to imagine a hopeful future where all families are free from fear,” Jessie Wathen, Tri-Valley Haven teen preventionist, said in a statement. “We look forward to seeing what participants create this year.”
Artwork must be original. Students may use up to four colors and cannot submit pictures larger than 14 inches by 14 inches.
The winner will receive a $100 cash prize and their artwork will be featured on the T-shirt for the organization’s Pace for Peace 5K/10K. The run/walk will take place at 8 a.m. on Oct. 1 at Tri-Valley Haven, 3663 Pacific Ave.
The winner will also receive a commemorative T-shirt and be presented with their prizes at the Pace for Peace event.
