Two people were displaced and one suffered minor injuries in an attic fire at a home in the 600 block of Grapevine Drive Friday afternoon.

Firefighters arriving at the home shortly after 2 p.m.found smoke coming from the roof vents and extinguished the attic fire within five minutes.

One of the residents had heard a smoke detector going off intermittently for “a couple of hours.”

A man described by firefighters as elderly burned his hands on hot embers while trying to access the attic, and was transported to a hospital for minor to moderate injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but the damage was limited to the attic, roof and ceilings, firefighters said.
