A teenage boy died when he apparently leapt out of a moving vehicle Friday night on I-680 in San Ramon.

A 16-year-old rear passenger in a Toyota Camry removed his seat belt and jumped out of the vehicle as it traveled in the highway’s northbound lanes north of Alcosta Boulevard around 10:30 p.m., a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.

A white sedan that was behind the Camry hit the teenager, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teen’s name is not yet being released by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office.
