A 44-year-old driver from Patterson was killed after rear-ending a water truck on southbound I-680 in Pleasanton Saturday morning..
The crash occurred at about 6:22 a.m. on southbound I-680, south of Stoneridge Drive, California Highway Patrol officials
said.
Javier Rodriguez, 44, apparently failed to notice that a water truck ahead of him was slowing because of traffic, CHP officials said. His car crashed into the back of a the water truck, trapping him inside, where he died.
Police said Rodriguez was traveling at a high rate of speed before he crashed. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, according to CHP .
