Two new principals are set to start at their respective elementary schools, as long as they are approved by the Pleasanton school board Tuesday night.

District staff has recommended Amador Valley High vice principal Sebastian Bull be named principal of Donlon Elementary and Dr. Ann Jayne become Vintage Hills Elementary’s new principal, according to interim superintendent Jim Hansen.

Approval of the two new principals is contingent on a favorable vote by the school board Tuesday evening, allowing the principals to be in place for the start of school on Aug. 25.

The board will also consider formal approval of contracts with new administrators who were previously appointed and already started work this summer, including principals Elias Muniz Rodriguez (Hearst) and Shay Galletti (Fairlands), interim principal Jill Butler (Harvest Park), vice principal Lisa Hague (Hart), and interim vice principals Michael O’Brien and Suzanne Smith (half-time) Pleasanton Middle School.

Other items on the agenda include:

* Allowing the city to hook Hart Middle School’s field up with a new recycled water system

* Awarding Sysco a beverage contract for flavored waters, sports drinks, water and fruit juice that meet nutritional guidelines for school lunches

* A discussion on this year’s California state budget and its effects to district funding

* Approval of the contract between the district and Hansen, who began as interim superintendent in June after former superintendent Parvin Ahmadi resigned. The district will be searching for a permanent superintendent. Hansen’s interim contract would end July 15.

The board meeting begins with closed session, scheduled from 5-7 p.m., followed by the open-session agenda at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held in the district boardroom at 4665 Bernal Ave.

  1. Donlon is very lucky to Sebastian Bull. He is a great administrator. Great selection for Donlon and PUSD. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to Amador Mr. Bull.

  2. If anyone is attending the meeting tonight and can speak to the beverage contract issue…sports drinks and certain flavored waters with artificial sweeteners aren’t healthy for our kids. If those are on the list, I hope it’s voted down. Thanks!

  3. To bad Walnut Grove didn’t get a new principal too! Tried to make contact with the present one all summer, never once did she even respond.
You would think after several emails and messages she could at least respond.
That tells me how much she cares about parent concerns.

  4. To Ellen: Just my guess….. but It might be quite possible that the principal was enjoying vacation this summer. I think if you try again this week, you should be able to make contact. Try stopping by the office. Good Luck

  5. Yes, depending when you tried to make contact, she was off. That means, OFF, just as most anyone is completely off (and often out of town) when they are on vacation. I’ve never met her, but I hope she enjoyed her summer, as we all know she is at a challenging site. She is under no obligation to reply during her time off. July is a time when you will probably reach no one on upper management in the school district. As “to Ellen” said, she is probably very reachable now.

  6. No doubt she was enjoying her vacation, but wonder what was the reason she couldn’t respond BEFORE school was even out. She’s been at school all last week, her car is in the parking lot.
A quick reply would have been nice! I am not the only one that is unhappy with her lack of response.

  7. Sugar those kids up and make money. Has anyone checked the form 700 re the board menbers whe are approving this unhealthy program. Hey, lets sell candy, funnel cakes and donuts!
