A fast-growing fire near Livermore was ultimately determined to have destroyed 195 acres of grass Thursday, according to East Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Jeff Burris.

All three of the district’s fire engines responded to the fire along North Vasco Road close to the Alameda-Contra Costa county border at about 11:30 a.m., according to East Contra Costa Fire Protection District Fire Chief Hugh Henderson.

Because of this incident, for 45 minutes the district had zero resources to respond to another emergency, Henderson said.

The cause of this fire was linked to local workers dismantling a windmill. The exact cause is still under investigation by Cal Fire, according to Burris.

There were no injuries reported.
