A Home Depot security officer was run down by the driver of a car in the Pleasanton store’s parking lot Sunday night as he tried to detain a woman who had just stolen several power tools.
Pleasanton police Sergeant Eric Gora said the car knocked the security guard to the ground at 10:20 p.m. The woman then jumped into the vehicle and the two drove away onto Owens Drive toward Johnson Drive. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects.
The security guard, a loss prevention officer who police did not name, sustained an injury to his knee and several scrapes and bruises but is expected to make a full recovery.
Gora identified the alleged shoplifter as a white adult woman, 25-30 years old, about 5 fee, 6 inches tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds. She was wearing a light colored shirt, black leggings with glitter and white tennis shoes.
The driver was identified as a while adult man, but no other description was given.
The car was a gold, older model Lexus or Acura four-door sedan.

With video cams at every signal, I would think they could get the license number and track the car farther than a few blocks.
Security guards are not cops. They are there as a deterent, and should never leave the store running after someone who has stolen something. What is their authority? I would certainly never chance being killed over something that wasn’t even mine!
She was in the store for over 2 hours. That’s quite a long time. Are their images of her with the stolen merchandise, and how about images of the vehicle waiting for her for such a long time outside of Home Depot. It would seem as though the accomplice was waiting just outside the doors for her to come out.

Now I have to carry a weapon to buy hardware. Geeez. Can’t they keep the criminals at Stoneridge Mall? Assault with a deadly weapon I believe will be the first charge. Maybe lying in wait and conspiracy.
They likely have close up shots from the power tool area. HD has cameras everywhere.
