City of Pleasanton recognizes business anniversaries

The Pleasanton City Council Tuesday recognized local companies for achieving 15, 20, 25, 30 and 40 years of business in Pleasanton.

The Council presented each of the businesses with a special gift to commemorate its tenure in the city.

“Pleasanton’s quality of life is closely tied to the economic vitality of our business community, and we are honored to publicly recognize these businesses’ milestones,” Economic Development Director Pamela Ott told the council.

She added:

“The companies represent a continuum from small, sole proprietorships that provide everyday services to medium sized firms making advancements in their industry to national retailers. That diversity is what makes Pleasanton’s business community as strong as it is.

“They have provided jobs, services and products valued by our residents and other businesses. They have clearly helped make Pleasanton the quality community that it is.”

Small businesses make a huge contribution to the U.S. economy and, according to the Small Business Administration, have generated over 65% of the net new jobs since 1995. More than 50% of the working population in the country (120 million individuals) works in a small business.
