Police are investigating at least 13 tire slashings that occurred April 10 and April 11 in the Sutter Gate area.

Residents on Sutter Gate Avenue, Laramie Gate Avenue, Laramie Gate Circle and Laramie Gate Way found tires of their vehicles had been vandalized overnight. The following day, nine more residents of the same neighborhood discovered the tires on one or more of their vehicles had also been vandalized, according to a police report.

The damage had been inflicted sometime overnight each night, and the police report said a vandal or punctured one or more tires of vehicles parked along the street or in the driveway of the residents with an unknown object.

There is no indication at this time that these incidents are related to the vandalisms that occurred on March 24 in the Valley Trails area.

A total of 28 cars on four streets were vandalized in the Valley Trails neighborhood late March 23 or early March 24, according to police reports from the time.

Fourteen vehicles parked on Valley Trails Drive were damaged, along with 10 on Yellowstone Court, three on Cumberland Gap Court and one on Isle Royal Court. There are no suspects.

The sidewalls of the victims’ tires were punctured in the earlier vandalisms, making the tires unfixable. The vehicles were all parked on the road in front of the victims’ homes; the puncture marks looked like they were caused with a half-inch knife blade in what police are calling apparent “random acts of vandalism.”

Anyone who witnessed either of these crimes, or has information regarding them is asked to contact the Pleasanton Police Department at 931-5100.

  1. Wow….. Don’t understand the point of this. What are the bragging rights? A monkey could do this. Somebody knows whose doing this. Come on–be classy and fess up. Pleasanton is better than this.

  2. believe me…a monkey has better things to do than to slash tires

    criminals did the slashing…

put up a large reward and perhaps the criminals will show their colors…

  3. There lives a boy in the same vacinity( the gates), who’s brother was convicted of the same crime of over twenty cars being slashed in the Mohr/martin neighborhood several years ago. Oh he was caught and paid about 40% restitution. Was supposed to pay it all, but folks got tired of waiting….police treated each and every case as an individual. Each charge required seperate court cases. In other words he got away with it

  4. Sue the perpetrator in small claims court and if you win you can put a lean against them and mess up their chance of getting any kind of bank loan for a car or house or many other items he /or she might want to have later in life. We did this and because he couldn’t pay the judgement we at least new he was having a hard time getting loans. This lean goes for ten years and can be renewed. Things may have changed from when we were in court. I did get satisfaction out of messing up his life.

  5. In a previous town our neighborhood had a house with a teenager who played his car stereo so loudly that our windows (two streets away) literally vibrated in the frames. He would do this for a few minutes at a time, knowing that the police would never arrive in time to cite him.
We worked with the PD and the courts to put together a class action small claims lawsuit. It is a group of lawsuits that is pushed together and heard at the same time. For about $50 in fees and a few minutes filling out documents, each home on the surrounding streets participated. Every occupant in the home is eligible to get $5,000 if the suit is won. This family would have been on the hook for well over $100,000 if the case had gone to court. The PD then met with the family and worked out an agreement. The nasty kid paid all costs to the participants and he was prohibited from even turning on the car stereo within the town limits.
Eventually they moved since every single neighbor had participated in the filing of the lawsuit. That was a big win for all of us.
So, don’t let these scummy kids off the hook, sue them big time and maybe the parents will learn how to be parents.

  6. I often brag about how safe Pleasanton is, Although I think that is still the case, I cant still say that with out being disingenuous! Who ever did this must be caught and justice must be served! What are they on anyways?
