The U12 Rage White played a solid game in their 3-1 victory over the Mill Valley Rockers at the Pleasanton Sports park Saturday.

After controlling most of the first half, the Rage White scored first when Mira Greenlee found the right corner of the goal off of an assist from Mckenna Moura. After the Rockers tied the score 1-1, it was Greenlee scoring again off passes from Shanece Hunsaker and Madison Soble.

The Rage White threatened for more with close scoring chances from Belle Henry, Alyssa Bardakos and Lalinda Xu. The Rage White then closed out the scoring when Soble angled a ball from 15 yards out to just right of the goalie. This was another impressive performance from the Rage White with stalwart defense from Jenyce Dutcher, Katey Rademann, Haley Beltran and Mckenna Moura. Goalie Izzy Neads handled the chances that came her way.

The Rage White midfielders (Madison Soble, Mira Greenlee, Sophie Adams, Ryan Murphy and Olivia Verbeck) controlled the middle of the field. And forwards Belle Henry, Alyssa Bardakos, Shanece Hunsaker, Lalinda Xu and Samantha Lai were a constant threat to score all game.

Al Caffodio League Action

Ballistic United U19 Select 2; Ballistic U19 Advanced 1i

Ballistic United’s two U19 teams faced off against each for the second and final time of the season Saturday at Pleasanton Sports Park.

The Advanced team had won the prior match beating the Select 1-0 on the opening day of the season. In Saturday’s game, it was the Advanced team on the scoreboard early as Max Delaney finished from 3 yards out to give his side the lead in the 6th minute.  The goal was setup by Titus Nortons long throw into the box that the Select side was unable to clear out.

The scored stayed 1-0 Advanced until Troy Stetson scored in the 33rd minute.  Justin Liu was able to elude several tackles on the right side of the box and send a cross in that Stetson hit at the Advanced goal.  Keeper Adam Johnstone got a hand to the ball but was unable to keep it out of the net.  The first half ended with the teams tied 1-1.

In the second half, the U19 Select held the majority of possession and crated several nifty short passing combinations that created excellent scoring chances.  The Select however, were unable to put a quality shot past Johnstone. In the 39th minute the Select put together a combination that sprang Striker Luis Castillo in on goal.  Castillo was taken down as he came free and awarded a kick from the penalty spot. Castillo struck the ball well scoring the game winning goal.

Standout play along the back line was provided all game long by Steven Gilbert, Suchi Kuo, Jason Teague, Justin Liu and Chris Franzella.  Suchau Kuo’s play was notable on the left wing. Kuo turned the corner on his defender numerous times with his penetrating runs causing havoc all game long for the opposing defense.

The win is Ballistic Selects fifth consecutive in Al Caffodio league play and keeps the team in first place in the U19 Division.

Rage U-12 Orange 1, Mustang Velocity, 0

This past weekend’s wins followed a series of wins for the Rage U12 Orange Premier team the week earlier.

At that time, the Rage beat the Mustang Velocity 1-0. The defense of Ariana Nino, Sadie Grozier, Tiara Lewis and Rachel Rice proved to be an outstanding combination that kept the Mustangs from spending much time near their goal.

However when they got there they were completely shut down by keeper Juliet Allen who had several incredible saves.

The only goal of the game came from Sam Frost’s corner to Brooke Roberts and ultimately to Megan Von Sosen’s who shot into the net.

The next day’s State Cup qualifying game was even more exciting as the girls really picked up their play and controlled the ball most of the game.

Diablo FC scored in the first quarter, but the Rage’s Rachel Rice answered back quickly with a goal of her own. Rachel was able to score a second time in the first half with a great assist from both Lorna Roberts and Sarah Broacha.

Midfielder Hunter Vice made sure the ball was kept up field and Saturday’s combination of defensive coordination was evident again on Sunday.

The second half highlight was a corner kick from Sam Frost, whose kick amazingly went into the net for Rage goal number 3. The final score was another U12 Orange win: 3-1.
