A golf tournament will be held today at the Blackhawk Country Club to help the family of Kaitlin Fleming, 20, cover expenses for a double lung transplant she had in May.
The Fleming family, which lives in Danville, needs an estimated $80,000 to pay their transplant-related expenses.
The event, called the “Hope for Kaitlin Golf Tournament,” includes 18 holes of golf with cart, a putting contest and another contest for hitting closest to the hole, a sit-down dinner and silent and live auctions.
Fees range from $350 for a single golfer to $1,200 for a foursome. Individuals may also contribute to the Fleming fund by just signing up for diner and the auctions for a fee of $75.
Katie was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at the age of one. For the last three years she has struggled to lead an ordinary life. Since the lung transplant at Stanford Hospital on May 14, she has improved steadily.
Spokeswoman Marylou Ritter said that 100 percent of the profits from the tournament will assist with transplant-related expenses not covered by insurance.
