  1. Should be required viewing by all who post political comments on this board. Also, this should be required in American schools and colleges. We are very quickly moving from a Republic to an Oligarchy…where we will soon experience Anarchy because of the tyranny from the Oligarchs.

  2. A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence:

    1. From bondage to spiritual faith.
    2. From spiritual faith to great courage.
    3. From courage to liberty.
    4. From liberty to abundance.
    5. From abundance to selfishness.
    6. From selfishness to complacency.
    7. From complacency to apathy.
    8. From apathy to dependency.
    9. From dependency back again into bondage.

We are at #8 heading toward #9 if we cannot take back our country in November. This means that NO DEMOCRATS can be elected. In fact, the old Democrat Party no longer exists.

Conservatism is the only way to save our Republic.

Very good explanation of each step in the cycle here:

  3. Oligarchy is already here and it began at the very beginning with suffrage. While individuals like Pleasanton Mom keep their political passions focused upon the left vs. the right, the oligarchs are consolidating their hold on power. Does Pleasanton Mom honestly believe that those in power care about the political spectrum as anything more than a tool by which to remain in power? Please re-read Orwell’s 1984.

I suggest you read this by Madison to understand the suffrage problem: http://press-pubs.uchicago.edu/founders/documents/v1ch16s26.html

  4. Juan,

Haha, but no. I don’t believe that Communism is on the right. My point is that if I were to subscribe to the simplified view of what is right and what is left as presented in the video posted by Pleasanton Mom, then Communism should be on the right end of the spectrum. I didn’t learn any of that in government schools. I learned it by reading the Communist Manifesto. You can’t understand a philosophy you don’t agree with if you always define that philosophy by yourself instead of reading the authors of that philosophy.
