The American Legion Pleasanton Post 237 hosts a high school oratorical scholarship program. The Constitutional speech contest will take place at 1 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Veterans Memorial Building, 301 Main St. The prizes are $250 for first place, $150 for second place and $75 for third place. The first place winner advances to the district contest in Pacifica and that winner advances to the finals in Modesto. Entry deadline is at 5 p.m. Jan. 15.
