After a one-year hiatus, the Pleasanton Weekly Readers’ Choice contest is returning. Voting in the 2021 competition begins April 19.
Just as we were ramping up for the 2020 Pleasanton Weekly Readers’ Choice contest, the county, state, country and pretty much the world was shutting down to stem the spread of COVID-19. Our editorial staff members had their hands full trying to keep readers informed during a period of constant breaking news; the sales staff was busy helping business owners get information to residents.
We debated having the contest to give everyone a distraction and a bit of “normalcy” during quarantine, but it just didn’t feel appropriate at a time of such uncertainty and loss.
Some categories, like “Best Place for Live Music,” will not be listed this year for obvious reasons. However, we have added categories related to home improvement and maintenance. Everyone is spending more time at home and families have been stay-cationing in their backyards, so many are updating and upgrading their homes and yards.
Business professionals and owners in eligible categories interested in being on the ballot to let everyone know they are open and ready for votes can request information here.
