ACE resorts to using taxis after fire leaves train stranded in Altamont area

A fire in the Altamont pass area Friday afternoon damaged the Union Pacific tracks and left the Altamont Corridor Express unable to safely operate trains through the area.

ACE train No. 4 was held at a siding in Livermore while crews battled the fire and officials ACE officials say they were resorting to using taxis to transport passengers in the absence of available service for a bus bridge.

"This will take some time to get sorted out, but we are working on it and appreciate your continued patience," ACE said in an announcement. "We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused."
