Government policies have destroyed and are financialing destroying millions of lives and, are now, and will exponentially, cause and explosion in crime...
too bad we weren't smart enough to allow that to be done to us...LIVE WITH IT or put a stop to it...

The crime rate in Pleasanton is down over the last 20 years.

Sorry BobB but the local crime rate is up just ask the lifetime residents like myself, I’m counting all the petty crimes, drugs, home breakins, auto thefts and vandalism along with all the other crimes affecting Livermore and Dublin sorry but can’t be turning a blind eye to what’s really happening around here. Try leaving your vehicle unlocked with a briefcase in plain sight or your side gate left unsecured, yep that’s right not happening now but used to be able too.

Lifelong resident. Bobb is right. Crime here IS down. It's easy to forget, but Pleasanton had quite a bit of crime, and quite a few dirty residents, in the 70's and 80's. Lots of petty stuff, and the occasional homicide. And no, you couldn't just leave doors unlocked in your home or car, or stuff would get jacked. Maybe in the 50's it was different. A lot of people just like to remember the good stuff.

The most recent data is from PPD's 2018 annual report. Aggravated Assault and Robbery are both up. Robberies are up over 400% versus 2014. More of a reflection on voters and our legislature than PPD. How is that zero-bail thing working out during COVID?

@Native,
From your report, 3 categories were up, and 4 were down. And that was from 2014. Not 2000 or 1990.

As my post stated that is the most recent data available from PPD. Post some data from a credible source, instead of solely your opinion/memory to validate that crime is down versus 1990 and 2000. Apparently you are good with robberies increasing over 400% as long as things were worse 30 years ago (which you haven't proven).

@Native,
No need to post it. I have over and over on this site. You can google my old posts if you like. I have supplied abundant data on this. It has nothing to do with opinion or memory. It is fact and well known. You can look up my old posts because it keeps coming up again and again. There is always someone saying crime is getting worse when it is actually getting better.
I pointed out that what you posted only went back to 2014, and showed 3 categories up, but 4 down.

Map,
Go back and look up the last time you made this claim on these forums. I provided links showing crime in Pleasanton has been going down for 30 years in Pleasanton. Don't you remember? Go back and look.
And no, increased immigration from India and East Asia doesn't cause crime to increase.

And one that goes back to 1988. I have posted many in the past.

@Bob:
The second link you sent confirms the total crime rate in 2009 was 19.5 per cap the lowest since 1988. Total crime has not in fact go down though as it's now 20.33. Not a huge spike but it is not going down.
Web Link
Your first link (2012 data). Aggravated assaults 2012:26;2018:47.Robberies 2012:18; 2018:57.
"crime in Pleasanton has been going down for 30 years in Pleasanton" FALSE. Even if total per cap crimes have dropped (which the above link says they haven't)robberies and aggravated assaults are in fact up sharply since 2012 according to PPD's annual reports.
I've personally witnessed an armed robbery in Pleasanton. I was in a public space when someone unknown to me decided to rob someone else unknown to me over a drug deal gone bad. You can post all you want that "crime is down" but robberies are not. We are not immune from violent crime in Pleasanton and some violent crimes are going up not down.

Violent crimes are clearly down and robbery is flat. Certainly no spike in crime over the last 30 years.

"robbery is flat" Except that it's not according to PPD's annual reports. 57 is actually greater than not equal to 18.
"crime in Pleasanton has been going down for 30 years in Pleasanton." If 20.33 is less than 19.5 then yes crime has gone down.

Violent crime. Is down. Other crimes flat from a low level. We're doing very well.

I guess I was living in a bubble in my early years when ptown was a nice quiet small town, then along came the 90’s and housing prices started their upward climb, schools were being overcrowded, traffic turned nightmarish and for some reason ptown was put on the map as the place to be therefore the place to be for for petty thieves and hoodlums. Neighborhood crime is on the rise, so lock up, put those security lights and cameras in and talk to your neighbors.
No idea why a comment about an increase in immigration would or would not lead to an increase in crime??

Never mind the comment about immigration. People on those other threads were blaming immigrants for what they perceived as an increase in crime.

Robberies are violent and so are aggravated assaults. Few crimes are more violent than robberies.

But aggravated assaults were down to a 5 year low in 2012. Go back and look at the links from those earlier threads. They go back 30 years. I agree Pleasanton doesn't have a small town feel anymore, but even if it felt safer back then, a lot of that was a false sense of security.
