A police officer with the Livermore Police Department has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the department announced on Friday.
The officer, who was not identified, is quarantined at home and exhibiting only minor symptoms of the virus, according to LPD. The positive test was confirmed on Thursday.
All staff members who may have had contact with the officer were also tested and placed in self-isolation. Each was found to be negative for COVID-19, according to the department.
"LPD had a plan in place for possible coronavirus exposures and positive cases, and has executed that plan," the department said. "In the past weeks, LPD has also been practicing social distancing, wearing personal protective equipment and limiting contact with the public."
"We wish the officer a safe and speedy recovery," the department added.
