Las Positas celebrates local veterans with Military Appreciation Night

Las Positas College invites members of the public to join them at The Nest in honoring local heroes for Military Appreciation Night on Wednesday.

The Feb. 12 event includes basketball games between LPC and Chabot College’s men’s and women’s teams, and an appearance by special guest Mickey Ganitch, a 100-year-old Pearl Harbor survivor.

Admission to the games is free for students, veterans, reservists, active duty and military family members, as well as friends and community members. Parking is $3.

Military Appreciation Night will take place at the Las Positas College Physical Education Complex, Building 2500. LPC is located at 3000 Campus Hill Drive in Livermore.

The women’s game tip-off and national anthem will be at 5 p.m., with the men’s tip-off and another rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at 7 p.m.
