Livermore Valley Opera is offering its audience a different type of entertainment on the evening of Feb. 1: a French cabaret.
"Moulin Rouge 2020" is this year's fundraiser for the opera company, an evening of glamour, excitement and fun that includes gourmet hors d'oeuvres, champagne and a three-course dinner paired with award-winning wines from Cuda Ridge, Mia Nipote, Occasio and Steven Kent in the ballroom of The Club at Ruby Hill.
Cabaret-style entertainment will include soprano Sandra Rubalcava, tenor Christoper Bengochea and bass baritone Kirk Eichelberger performing Paris-themed opera arias and Broadway tunes. Cabaret dancers from Livermore School of Dance will also perform, including the cancan. In keeping with the theme, red attire is encouraged; black tie is optional.
The evening, which begins at 5 p.m., also will include a wine lottery, games of chance, and a live auction of unique experiences. A diamond bracelet created by Lance Cavalieri Jewelers, valued at $11,300, will be given away in a drawing with only 52 chances to win.
Tickets for "Moulin Rouge 2020" are $225, with all but $140 tax deductible. The evening benefits Livermore Valley Opera and its two fully staged opera productions per year. The first 75 guests to buy tickets will be invited to a private cocktail party two weeks before the fundraising event.
