Members of the Jose Maria Amador Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) help celebrate its National Day of Service on Oct. 10 by serving lunch at the Pleasanton Senior Center, working as waitresses, dishwashers, busgirls and food line servers as well as enjoying chatting with the seniors.

Later in the day, other members painted patriotic designs on rocks to be placed in the garden of the Veterans Affairs hospital in Livermore. The Day of Service honors the founding of DAR on Oct. 11, 1890; since that time, members have focused on giving back to their communities.

We need your support now more than ever. Can we count on you?
