Library rebuild on track at Harvest Park

PUSD: Insurance will cover repairing damage caused by fire last summer

Work on rebuilding the fire-damaged library at Harvest Park Middle School is well underway and appears to be on track.

Last summer, a fire caused extensive damage to Harvest Park’s library and campus-wide low voltage systems. Since then, a 40-foot-by-48-foot portable has served as a temporary library.

The Pleasanton school board signed off a few months ago on several contracts for the work; crews started getting to work in April and have been steadily repairing the damaged building ever since. Rebuilding of the library will be covered by the district’s insurance and is taking place in two phases; the first stage of demolition is already completed.

Construction will continue during the school year; to minimize impact during school hours, work will start at 2 p.m. and end at 10 p.m.
