News Digest: Bay Area Military Classic, Musicians for city production & Yoga Day in Livermore

Bay Area Military Classic

The Bay Area Military Classic golf fundraiser tournament is coming to The Course at Wente Vineyards in Livermore later this month.

The event raises financial support and resources for active and former military members and their families, aiming to "make a real, tangible difference in the lives of active duty, reserve, national guard personnel and veterans who live and work in the Bay Area."

A few golf spots are still available to play in the fundraiser, set for the morning of June 24, with an opening ceremony before an 11 a.m. shotgun start and then an awards dinner afterward. To learn more, visit https://birdeasepro.com/bamc.

Musicians for city production

The city of Pleasanton's Pleasanton Youth Theater Company is seeking gifted musicians who play piano, alto sax, soprano sax, drums and percussion to perform in the orchestra pit for its full-length Summer Drama Camp teen production of "Urinetown The Musical."

Interested musicians should email a video link of them performing two pieces they consider their most challenging to music@cityofpleasantonca.govon or before this Saturday (June 15) by 9 p.m.

For further information, contact Mark Duncanson at music@cityofpleasantonca.gov. or (925) 931-4828. Musicians grades 6-12 and their parents can download the Orchestra Pit Rehearsal and Performance calendar on the Firehouse website.

Yoga Day in Livermore

In honor of International Yoga Day, a free outdoor yoga and mediation session will again be offered to the community in the grassy area outside the Bankhead Theater from 5-8 p.m. next Friday (June 21), sponsored by the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center.

Now in its fourth year, the event has attracted participants of all ages for the free outdoor yoga session, live music and prize drawings. Instructors from local studios will teach a class for all levels accompanied by live music.

Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or towel. No prior experience is needed.
