Coroner IDs man killed in I-580 crash east of Livermore

A man who died after his pickup truck collided with a big-rig on eastbound Interstate 580 in eastern Alameda County on Thursday morning has been identified by the Alameda County coroner's office as 59-year-old Tom Morgan of Concord.

The crash, which was reported shortly before 5:30 a.m. Thursday, happened near the intersection of interstates 580 and 205, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Morgan, who was driving the pickup, died at the scene after his vehicle rear-ended the semi-tractor trailer, CHP Officer Tyler Hahn said.

Morgan didn't have any passengers in his pickup and the big-rig driver wasn't injured, according to Hahn.
