Chabot-Las Positas chancellor finalists to take part in forums this week

District announces top three candidates, from Monterey, Portland, Tuscon

The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District has narrowed its search for a new chancellor to three finalists, all of whom are set to take part in open public forums on each of the district's two main campuses this week.

The finalists are Lisa Avery, president of Portland Community College's Sylvania Campus in Portland, Ore.; David Dore, campus president and vice chancellor of workforce and economic development at the Pima Community College District in Tucson, Ariz.; and Walter Tribley, superintendent/president of Monterey Peninsula College in Monterey.

Each of the three finalists will be the focus of hour-long public forums at Las Positas College in Livermore and at Chabot College in Hayward. The Las Positas College sessions take place Tuesday in that campus's B1000 Lecture Hall -- Avery from 9:30-10:30 a.m., Tribley from 11 a.m. until noon, and Dore from 12:30-1:30 p.m.

The Chabot College forums take place Wednesday in the Stage One Theater. Avery's forum will run from 3-4 p.m., Tribley's from 4:15-5:15 p.m. and Dore's from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The district seeks a successor to Jannett Jackson, who resigned in August. Two interim chancellors, Susan Cota and Thomas Fallo, have served since August.
