Paws in Need has dedicated itself to improving the welfare of animals in the Tri-Valley, primarily through its two main programs, urgent care and spay/neuter.
The urgent care/advanced procedure program offers one-time donations for pet owners who cannot afford necessary emergency veterinary care -- the overall goal being to simultaneous reduce an animals suffering and prevent euthanasia due to financial constraints.
The nonprofit wants to help control the Tri-Valley’s pet population by ensuring that pets are spayed or neutered, through its Spay and Neuter program. For $50 the organization can neuter a male animal and for $75 can spay a female. Some female animals will cost slightly more however, with complications sometimes making the operation cost $100.
Programs are 100% funded by contributions from the community. According to Paws in Need, in the first half of 2018 the organization has helped 371 pets through its two medical programs.
To assist these pets Paws in Need has both given and received support from veterinary clinics throughout the region. These include Gateway Pet Hospital and Bishop Ranch Vet Center in San Ramon, as well as Alisal Pet Clinic and Amador Valley Vet Hospital in Pleasanton.
