“Soul Searching: The Spirit of Africa and the Diaspora Expressed by Contemporary Bay Area Artists” is on display at Firehouse Arts Center Harrington Gallery through Oct. 14, with works including fiber art, masks and sculpture, painting and mixed-media.

The exhibit runs in conjunction with Cheza Nami Foundation’s Taste of Africa festival, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Firehouse.

Also, a special youth event will be held 4:30-5:45 p.m. Sept. 28 for students to explore the exhibit then create their own African masks and landscapes in the art studio. The youth event cost is $15 for residents, $20 for non-residents; visit Pleasantonfun.com.
