Premier COMP Medical Group in Pleasanton was recently acquired by U.S. HealthWorks, one of the nation’s largest operators of occupational health and urgent care centers.

The deal brings U.S. HealthWorks up to 16 centers serving patients and employers in the Bay Area and 74 locations in California, making it the largest service provider in the state, company officials said in announcing the deal last month.

Terms of the transactions were not released.

“The team at Premier COMP Medical Group has established a reputation and history of providing excellent medical care to the community,” U.S. HealthWorks president and CEO Joseph Mallas said in a statement.

“We are pleased to welcome the team to the U.S. HealthWorks family and are excited to expand our ability to serve the East Bay area with this new center,” he added. “Our patients, employer clients and insurance carrier partners will now have another option for their needs from a provider they know and trust.”

Located at 5635 West Las Positas Blvd., Suite 401, Premier COMP Medical Group focused on services such as work injury care, physical exams, drug and alcohol testing, and pre-employment screenings.

“U.S. HealthWorks is the leader in the California occupational health industry, and we are excited to join the team as it allows us to further expand our services and elevate the level of care to employers and injured workers in the East Bay,” said Dr. Stephen R. Nord, president and CEO of Premier COMP.

A subsidiary of Dignity Health, U.S. HealthWorks operates 247 medical and on-site clinics for occupational health care in 21 states, with more than 4,000 employees nationwide.
