Library to mark 28th year at Old Bernal Avenue location today

Scavenger hunt, slide show, anniversary cake to highlight celebration

The Pleasanton public library will celebrate 28 years at its 400 Old Bernal Avenue location Saturday.

The celebration will include a self-led scavenger hunt and slide show, highlighting library's services, programs and history. The scavenger hunt and slide show will be a drop-in program between 10 a.m. and noon. At 2 p.m., there will be a cake cutting and prize drawing for all scavenger hunt finishers.

Additionally, to encourage residents to return overdue items, fines will be waived for all library materials returned on Saturday.

and the parking lot still sucks. Just the other evening I had to honk my horn at least 5 times just to get the lazy parents picking up their kids to move forward or find a parking space. traffic at 5:30pm was backed up onto Old Bernal since no one wanted there precious little kid to walk. Here is an idea, park your vehicle (there were plenty of spots by the way)and get off your ass and walk into the library and pick up your kid from their free babysitter. You sitting in your vehicle blocking handicap spots (which is illegal by the way) are also blocking and causing a major backup on a city street.

Maybe we need to have a motorcycle officer in the lot for about a week just to get parents to know blocking a handicap spot in illegal. Loading zone does not mean sitting there for 1/2 hour.

Just about the only time our library is busy is when it is used as a free after school daycare center, good luck on getting those parents out of their cars and walking, way too busy for that!!! Still haven't figured out why the city is trying to shove a new library down our throats along with new city buildings on bernal, do we really want stack and pack housing on Main Street??
