Deadline today to apply for Juanita Haugen Memorial Scholarship

Program recognize students with strong record of civic engagement

Today is the deadline for students to apply for a Juanita Haugen Memorial Scholarship.

The late Ms. Haugen was a long time Pleasanton school board member and at one time president of the board,

In her honor, the Pleasanton Community of Character initiative created the annual $1,000 scholarships to recognize students who have a strong record of civic engagement and have demonstrated exceptional character by role modeling the traits of Compassion, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Integrity and Self-Discipline.

The award will be presented to a student in each of Pleasanton's three high schools. Applications are being taken for Foothill and Amador Valley students, Village High will be presented at a later date.

Applications and guidelines are available online at www.CommunityofCharacter.org. Selections will be made later this month.
