Fundraiser today will benefit firefighters' foundation

Tasty barbecue plates for $5 contribution outside New Leaf Community Markets

Firefighters will be tending a fire over a grill outside New Leaf Community Markets in Pleasanton Saturday afternoon with all proceeds from $5 lunch plates going to the Livermore-Pleasanton Firefighters Foundation.

The firefighters will barbecue ultra-premium, all natural sausages by CharcūtNuvo on their signature BBQ trailer from 1-4 p.m.

“The Firefighters Foundation is pleased to be partnering with New Leaf for their second BBQ fundraiser this year," said Matt Thau, a fire department engineer and director of the Foundation.

"New Leaf is a great partner and host, donating all of the food, which allows 100% of the proceeds to go to helping injured and fallen firefighters, police and EMS activities, as well as the burn foundation and local charities in the Tri-Valley,” he added.

“We are happy to be part of a community where the fire department is so involved,” said Noelle Blanco, store marketing and outreach coordinator.

“We look for opportunities to collaborate on events that bring families together to learn and have fun, and raise funds for the foundation," she said. "Our firefighters are a wonderful group of people, and quite the grill meisters!”

In May, New Leaf hosted the Tri-Valley Bike to Work Happy Hour, which featured live music sponsored by Hacienda, beer and food tasting, a raffle, and the sale of Smart Chicken dinner plates grilled by the firefighters. In June, New Leaf was a gold sponsor of the fire department’s Hook and Ladder Run, which raised close to $5,000.

New Leaf is located at 3550 Bernal Ave.
