Local students are encouraged to attend the annual Tri-Valley College and Career Fair, happening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Foothill High School small and large gymnasiums.
The free event gives Tri-Valley youth and their families the chance to explore higher education and career options and talk to admission representatives about how to best prepare for specific programs.
More than 100 representatives will be on hand from the University of California and California State University systems, community colleges, out-of-state universities, technical schools and private entities. Representatives from the United States military and local education companies will also be in attendance.
The community event serves students from the Pleasanton, Livermore and Dublin school districts and routinely draws more than 2,000 people, according to organizers.
This year's event is being coordinated by student leaders from Foothill DECA, a not-for-profit career technical student organization, in partnership with the Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program.
Students are advised to prepare for the fair beforehand by visiting their school's career center to get a list of participating institutions that might be of interest to them. They are encouraged to visit the websites of those schools and prepare questions to ask representatives.
Foothill High is located at 4375 Foothill Road.
