Las Positas College photo exhibit 'Rooted in Nature' now open

Showing open through Oct. 28 in school's Barbara Mertes Theater Gallery

Las Positas College is displaying photography by Barbara Nichols Reynolds and Lee Serles in a show titled "Rooted in Nature," in the Barbara Mertes Theater Gallery through Oct. 28.

Reynolds and Serles studied in the Las Positas Photography Department.

"He and I have been going out on photo shoots in the local area for a few years now," Reynolds said. "Both of us are award winners."

She said that she appreciates all she has learned and continues to learn under the tutelage of Photography Department Chair Deanna Horvath.

"My photography skills have progressed -- from current techniques to antique methods, such as cyanotypes," Reynolds said. "Further, it has been Deanna who has encouraged me to paint my photographic images."

Reynolds and Serles have been recognized with awards in local art shows, as well as from the Alameda County Fair and the Tri-Valley Conservancy.

The gallery is open during school hours and theater performances.
