Foothill student accused of threatening fellow student on social media

Arrest made after high school's staff alerts police to online post

An unidentified Foothill High School student was arrested yesterday on suspicion of threatening a fellow student on social media.

Pleasanton Police Sergeant Pat Walsh said school staff, after being notified of the threat, worked with school resource officers from the police department to identify the suspect, who was located off campus and arrested and booked into juvenile hall.

Police said the threats seem to stem from interactions between the suspect and victim, and there's no indication of any threat to other students or school staff. The suspect didn't mention any use of a weapon, and no weapons were located during the course of the investigation.

Police are withholding the suspect's name and age as well as the specific nature of the threats that were made in order to preserve the integrity of their investigation.
