Driver dies in 2-vehicle collision on Hwy. 84

27-year-old man killed after he loses control of car

A 27-year-old man died in a two-vehicle collision Thursday morning on Highway 84 just south of Pleasanton.

California Highway Patrol officers said the collision was first reported at 8 a.m. on Hwy. 84 at Little Valley Road.

CHP Officer Eric Anderson said an SUV was traveling west on the roadway when the driver of an Infiniti traveling east lost control of his vehicle and drifted onto the right shoulder.

The driver overcorrected and his Infiniti found its way into the westbound lane where the SUV broadsided it. The collision killed the Infiniti's driver.

The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries and was taken to Stanford Health/ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton.
