Bernal Avenue being repaved between Foothill Road, Valley Avenue

Expect traffic delays as $856,000 project takes 8 weeks to complete

Work is now underway to resurface Bernal Avenue between Foothill Road and Valley Avenue.

The $856,000 project is part of an overall streets improvement program that has included the I-680 southbound freeway on-ramp signal at Bernal Avenue and adjacent landscape and gateway feature elements.

The repaving project will resurface approximately 255,000 square feet of existing roadway with a new layer of asphalt concrete and will take roughly eight weeks to complete.

Several Roadwork Projects Underway in Dublin

Residents and visitors traveling through Dublin may need to add a few extra minutes to their commute due to roadwork improvement projects taking place in the City. In order to minimize impacts to commuters, necessary lane closures will not occur during peak commute times and directions. Projects include:

* Dougherty Road Widening Project: In order to address traffic congestion, the City of Dublin will begin a road widening project which will add two additional vehicular travel lanes and a roadway median; new and improved bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure; and new bus stops and pull-outs. Project length: Mid-July to Fall 2017.

*Tassajara Asphalt Repair and Replacement Project: Construction will soon begin to repair and replace asphalt on Tassajara Road between I-580 to North Dublin Ranch Road. Project length: Mid-July through August 2016.

*Tassajara Road Widening Project: Those who travel between Silvera Ranch Road and Fallon Road will face lane shifts and speed reduction in this area. Project length: Mid-July to October 2016.

*Tassajara Road Closure - Moller Creek Culvert Replacement: Construction is well underway on a portion of Tassajara Road north of Fallon Road to replace a failing culvert underneath the roadway. Drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians are unable to use Tassajara Road/Camino Tassajara to travel between Dublin and the San Ramon/Danville area. Project continues to December 2016.

*Village Parkway and Brighton Drive Traffic Signal Upgrade: Work will soon begin on the creation of left-turn-only lanes on Brighton Drive at both approaches to Village Parkway. This project will provide greater safety for pedestrians and bicyclists crossing Village Parkway without the conflict of left-turning traffic. Project length: Mid-July to early August 2016.

Well that's swell, but when is the City going to repave Valley from Bernal to Hopyard? It looks like war-torn Beirut out there!

Are they going to fix the "right turn only" at Koll Center Drive to Bernal? Why can't you go straight into the Safeway shopping center? You can go straight from the Safeway shopping center (crossing Bernal) to Koll Center Drive, but not the other direction!

Wow!!! 8 whole weeks to repave 3 blocks worth of road. Does that include an 8 hour lunch break everyday?

@Slow Worker

Especially when all the repair work is done during rush hour, instead of during the night when there is no traffic!

What is going to be done about replacing the Bernal bridge near Foothill Road? Is a second bridge planned?
