School board to receive update on superintendent search tonight

Board to meet in closed session regarding search for new district leader

The Pleasanton school board will meet in closed session at 5:30 p.m. today to be updated on the ongoing superintendent search.

The board will receive an update on the ongoing search, which is expected to be concluded in about a month.

The district is searching for a new leader after former superintendent Parvin Ahmadi resigned in May to become Castro Valley's superintendent. Former Amador Valley principal Jim Hansen temporarily left retirement to serve as interim superintendent.

Search firm McPherson & Jacobson has been interviewing candidates, and the board is expected to publicly name finalist candidates at some point before the superintendent is named. The new superintendent could be named at the board's upcoming April 19 meeting.

Tuesday's meeting will not have an open session component. The board meets at district headquarters on Bernal Avenue.
