The Pleasanton Downtown Association is sponsoring special events Feb. 6 in recognition of Super Bowl Sunday the following day.
The 50th Super Bowl is in Santa Clara at Levi Stadium on Feb. 7 and Pleasanton has been recognized by the Super Bowl Host Committee as a Super Community.
In celebration of the event, the PDA will host a "Super Scavenger Hunt"event from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 6 while supplies last.
Children 10 years old and younger are invited to come pick up instructions, goody bags and their first clues from the starting location outside of the Museum on Main, 603 Main St. that will be marked with a golden balloon arch and a giant football. They have to solve their first clue in order to find the next downtown location, where they will be given a fun football-themed treat and their next clue.
More than a dozen downtown businesses are participating in the event. Parents will be given the answers to all of the clues to help children find the treat locations.
The "Hunt For The Golden Football," a scavenger hunt for adults, also will take place at 4 p.m. Feb. 6. Those who find a football hidden downtown could win one of several prizes, including $300 cash.
Here's how it works:
Follow the Pleasanton Downtown Association on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Hints to where seven footballs are hidden downtown will be shared on those social media channels.
Each football is color coded and matches a prize. The golden football is worth $300. Once you find a football, report to the golden arch outside of the Museum on Main. Redeem the football to receive your prize.
The prizes include a Debbie Wardrope painting from Studio Seven Arts, a Towne Center Books gift card, Coffee Tea Superstore gift card, Drift gift card, Main Street Sunglasses gift card, special glassware from Redcoats, a gift card from Therapy and $300 cash from the Pleasanton Downtown Association.
