Pleasanton's school board will hold a public meeting tonight to hear an update from a consulting firm it hired to search for a new superintendent.
The board will begin its special meeting in closed session at 6:30 p.m. and then host an open session at 7 p.m. to hear a progress report from representatives of consulting firm McPherson & Jacobson, LLC, about details of the search for a new district leader.
Pleasanton Unified is searching for a new superintendent after former superintendent Parvin Ahmadi resigned in May to become Castro Valley's superintendent. Former Amador Valley High principal Jim Hansen is filling in as interim superintendent until a new leader is chosen.
The board hired Omaha-based McPherson & Jacobson in November to facilitate its search after a competitive bid process led the board to select the firm's $28,000 offer.
The search firm is combing the U.S. for potential candidates, and then will have top candidates come to Pleasanton for interviews after conducting background screening.
Tonight's discussion is expected to include a timeline of important dates in the search process, as well as a general update about how the initial steps are going.
The board meets at the school district's headquarters on Bernal Avenue.

This impacts students and parents, and many others. The decision should be more transparent. There should be a survey of everyone who remotely has any interest in this.
Damn board has shown they cant make a decision on its own. We need a survey on this.

I'd like to apologize for my earlier post. As someone who didn't run for the board, and didn't volunteer my time, I should look for a more appropriate way to get my point across. I really need to re-think my use of social media. I'm just not cut out for it.

I just hope that if the board doesn't get the ideal candidate, they have the guts to ask Jim Hansen to stay for another year and will conduct a second search. Don't accept anything less than a first rate candidate this community deserves!!
