Vacaville police arrested two Pleasanton residents after they

stole a car during a test-drive Friday evening.

The suspects, Shane Woodcock and Shawna McLemore, went to a Vacaville dealership under the auspice of buying a car. While on a test drive they took the salesman to a Wells Fargo Bank on Harbison Drive, according to police.

All three parties went inside the bank, but after Woodcock and McLemore slipped away, the salesman realized something was wrong and went outside to find the two in the car. Woodcock reportedly said he had a gun and drove away at a high rate of speed, according to police.

The vehicle was spotted on westbound Interstate Highway 80. The suspects reportedly drove into oncoming traffic, then into a residential area where they fled on foot, police said.

McLemore, 33, was located hiding in a shed and taken into custody with the assistance of a police dog. She was treated at a hospital in

Vacaville, according to police.

Woodcock, 37, was arrested shortly thereafter. Officers found a knife and a replica handgun at the scene, according to police.

  1. Hopefully the salesman learned from this, he’s lucky they only walked him into a bank, they could have walked him over to a ditch alongside the road! Maybe he should stick to a desk job until he gets a little wiser to the elements around him.

  2. Way to blame the victim Map! How dare a car salesman allow people to test drive a car?! Yes, we all need to learn lessons, some more than others…

  3. I don’t know about everyone else, but personally I find it a bit embarrassing to read news about a pair of clueless yokels commit a crime without having any plan like this. If we’re going to have someone from Pleasanton in the crime news, I would much prefer that it be someone like a suave, sophisticated and debonair international jewel thief. You know, someone who will raise the image of Pleasanton. Sure hope that this pair didn’t graduate from Pleasanton schools.

  4. Maybe the salesman should have googled Shane. He has eight prior arrests in Alameda County including two for taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
