Livermore area blaze burns 53 acres, damages home

A grass fire east of Livermore spread to 53 acres and destroyed several structures Thursday evening before it was fully contained, according to Cal Fire.

The fire, which was reported in the area of Tesla Road and Clifford Drive at about 4 p.m., spread rapidly to 53 acres.

Firefighters stopped its forward progress shortly before 6 p.m. and reported it fully contained around 6:50 p.m., but not before it damaged one home and destroyed a barn, a vehicle and a shipping container, according to Cal Fire.

One firefighter was injured working to put out the fire. Cal Fire officials could not be reached Thursday evening to provide an update on the seriousness of the injury.

Crews closed Tesla Road at Greenville Road and Cal Fire received reports of wires down in the area during the fire.
