San Mateo-Hayward Bridge closed until 5 a.m. tomorrow

Caltrans crews resurfacing, treating deck structure

The San Mateo-Hayward Bridge will reopen at 5 a.m. tomorrow, Memorial Day after being closed since Friday night for the second time this month as Caltrans crews continued to resurface and treat the deck structure, as well as perform maintenance repairs.

Caltrans crews had also closed the bridge from May 8-11 for treatment and repairs.

During this weekend's closure, eastbound state Highway 92 will be closed from Foster City Boulevard in Foster City and westbound Highway 92 will be closed from Clawiter Road in Hayward, CHP officials said.

Drivers can take alternative routes such as the Bay Bridge, the Dumbarton Bridge and state Highway 237.

Drivers should expect delays across the alternate toll bridges and plan extra time for the delays, according to the CHP.

For more information about the project, drivers can visit the Department of Transportation's website.
