Vranesh hearing ends

Ruling will be made within 30 days

The hearing in former Walnut Grove Elementary principal Jon Vranesh's appeal of his termination from the Pleasanton Unified School District concluded Thursday with closing arguments.

Vranesh was placed on administrative leave Oct. 24, 2013, for allegedly creating a "hostile work environment" at Walnut Grove through the use of vulgar/derogatory terms to describe female employees of the district and making statements to subordinates that were "threatening and intimidating in nature."

On the final day of the hearing, Vranesh's attorney Paul Kondrick and PUSD attorney Kimberly Kingsley Bogard argued whether or not Vranesh is fit to return to the school district as a special education teacher.

The ruling for the hearing, which lasted three weeks and included dozens of testimonies from current and former PUSD employees, will be made at a later time. Most often rulings in cases like this are made within 30 days.

It might be best that the ruling will come out after school is out. That will give the D.O./school board time to take any actions needed. I'm watching to see how many administrators retire over the summer.

Dear Mean Girls,

I heard that you were downright giddy during the hearing so you must be sad to see it end. Paid time off, hang out with the clique, attack an enemy. What's not to love?

Nice job on destroying someone's career. You must be very proud. Before you pop the champagne here are a few things to ponder.

You are viewed as pariahs by many parents and teachers and not just those at WG. Don't expect someone to tell you this to your face. We have seen what you are capable of doing and some are very scared of you. Congratulations? Your actions degrade other teachers and staff in our district.

JV is far from the only one you hurt. Cronin appears to be under a severe amount of stress from her name being public and perhaps wondering how this will ultimately end. I don't feel sorry for her, because I don't believe her, but her family didn't choose this path. How can you gloat when your friend is suffering?

WG lost a beloved (by parents and some staff) principal, the entire office staff and some good teachers and volunteers. It is a school divided and will remain so with the current teachers and site administrator. Her record in Brentwood speaks for itself.

The entire district lost a huge amount of money and the clock is still running. The school board spends inordinate amounts of time on this when they could be working on building up the district. Our reputation is tarnished.

This is far from over. No matter the outcome of the hearing it will be appealed. There is at least civil trial after that and perhaps more.

Your hero Bowser went from first to worst in one election and became the only incumbent trustee to be unseated. Sure, he'll run again this November. This guy has a gift for losing elections(3 out of 4 but who's counting) and seems to enjoy it. Good luck running as a challenger with a soiled reputation.

2 years ago Bill Faraghan probably wasn't planning on retiring. It's nice work if you can get it. He was always in over his head but he's a nice guy and very supportive of the union. Who knows what you'll get next. Organizations that get sued tend to over-react and implement lots of HR training, policies and oversight.

The superintendent who does your bidding remains deeply unpopular and will never enjoy widespread support. She is tyrannical, ruthless and mean-spirited to all who oppose her and this only gets you so far. Forget about a parcel tax or bond with Parvin as our Dear Leader.

The sign stealer proved with her actions that Vranesh was right about her not being a good candidate for VP. We all know who you are despite your efforts to squash the truth from getting out. As you and your friends know, it's a small town and people talk.

Thank God my children are no longer exposed to any of you. You are all good teachers but you are not good people.

Cady,

Why don't you name names here so we all know what you know?

And right on cue a someone shows up making rude and personal attacks and claiming to know the identities of people here on this forum. But like I said before it is par for the course. It is just another example of what JV was dealing with at WG nasty personal attacks by a group that decided he was the source of all their troubles in the PUSD. Your personal attacks are just another example. Thanks for that.

Many many people are thinking the same way as "cady" if it makes you feel better that it is only 3 then so be it but it just isn't the truth.

I don't completely understand the first comment regarding the desire for the decision to be made known after school ends. It seems the timing will be close. The parties involved deserve a fair impartial decision as soon as it is available. If that occurs before school ends, so be it. We should expect ALL parties involved to act professionally and appropriately in our community, in their work places and around our children. We need to start expecting and demanding much more from the district than we do. For starters, why not expect them to abide by the community character traits posted at the schools and around the community?

Still no ruling? It's been well over the 30 days. For all involved this needs to be decided. I know in another thread Pleasanton Weekly said they were then told 100 days. Wonder why the 70 day discrepancy.
